Step Forward Project
The Step Forward project is aimed at engaging, supporting and building the capacity of isolated and vulnerable people living locally, including the hardest to reach individuals.
The Step Forward project will strengthen the new social prescribing service by enabling more people each year to access one-to-one support and to engage in Annexe Communities social and personal development activities such as lunch clubs, exercise, meditation, cooking and art classes
Step Forward also has a volunteer community capacity building worker who will liaise with other Annexe projects to encourage, support and offer training to new volunteers and to access local volunteering opportunities. The Step Forward Project, crucially, incorporates Step Forward Footcare (formerly Twinkle Toes), a service primarily run by volunteers.
Step Forward Personal Foot Care service
Step Forward supports local community members, as volunteers, to provide toenail clipping services for their peers. Step Forward supports the reduction of this pressure on the NHS. It reduces waiting lists, waiting times and gives beneficiaries better access and the provision of a basic but necessary service which presently is very much lacking in their community. Lack of foot care can have an adverse effect on a person’s physical and emotional wellbeing. For a variety of reasons it can become difficult, if not impossible, to trim your own toenails on a regular basis. Healthy feet can reduce the risk of falling, reduce infection risk and prevent injury or pain. Keeping your toenails trimmed is an important part of keeping you comfortable, healthy, active and reducing your risk of falling. Step Forward Footcare service is given in a friendly, supportive and hygienic environment at the Annexe, allowing you to easily access other activities, information and opportunities which may be available to you at our centre and in the local Community.
If you are having difficulty keeping your toenails trimmed, please contact us for an appointment.
