Annexe Connects wins BIG funding

An exciting Annexe project to help reconnect nearly 550 older people and carers with their local communities in west central Glasgow has won £275,000 of backing from the BIG Lottery Fund.

Annexe Connects will deliver specially designed courses and one-to-one support for people who have become isolated and need help to find their way back into living local life to the full.

So impressed was BIG with Annexe Communities’ proposal, that they selected it to launch their new round of funding. BLF Scotland chair, Alison Magee visited The Annexe headquarters in Partick to make the announcement.

The award underlines our position as a leading independent Glasgow community services charity with an unrivalled history of delivering health and wellbeing initiatives.

Annexe chairman, former Glasgow councillor Kenneth Burns, says: “We are delighted to secure the backing and support of the Big Lottery Fund at what is a critical time financially for many publicly-funded community organisations. We are confident that our project will make a substantial difference to the lives of many carers and older people in the city – and it will do so in a fresh and highly cost-effective way.”
