Let Partick Flourish
Let Partick Flourish is a two years project funded by The National Lottery Community Fund Scotland and is a follow on from our Younity project developing further any, beneficial to Partick and Thornwood, links made previously.
Let Partick Flourish has been working in collaboration with Yardworks@SWG3 designing and brightening up Partick by painting over old electrical boxes, local shop fronts and look out for the first close door design. The work continues with two local budding artists from Dreams and Aspirations gaining an exciting 9-month artist mentorship and bursary to develop their creativity further. Thank you SWG3!.
In partnership with CyclingUK, 22 local people, previously that didn’t have a bike, got a brand-new bike, fit for their purpose and any biking accessories needed. Big thank you to Cycling UK for this amazing opportunity and to Sylwia from local Dynamo Bikes for her patience and bike building skills.
Thanks to funding from Glasgow City Council Wards 23 and 12, Partick Housing Association and Glasgow Wellbeing Fund Let Partick Flourish and Onwards and Upwards hosted three free community family events in Mansfield Park, Thornwood Park and down at the harbour. Fun was had! ?
After the initial support from Partick Housing Association towards our setting up of a Cost of Living Support Group, massive thanks to Glasgow City Council Ward 23, Farrans the new Govan/Partick bridge builders and more recently University of Glasgow for keeping this much needed service going for our community for at least another year! Our group inspired University of Glasgow students to develop a “Save Our Sandwiches” campaign to save even more landfill! A recently added “Friday Freezer” has been added so nobody is stuck for food over the weekend.
Another 10 weeks branching out course was completed with local people getting the chance to get out of Partick for the day and walk and discover new places and parks in and around Glasgow. With a few day visits to Loch Ard Adventure Centre for some archery and canoeing. Thanks to Craig from Operation Play Outdoors and James and Kyle from Loch Ard Adventure Centre, some fears were conquered!
